After a couple of nights at Caceres and a visit to the historic town we travelled further south and into Portugal, LPG readily available all the way at less than 70 p litre.
We pitched on an Orbitur site at Costa Caparica near Lisbon for three nights which gave us the chance to walk the prom and watch the surfers while tasting delicious local seafood and wine .
we also spent a day in Lisbon, a lovely city but like much of this area of Portugal quite "run down" and looking distinctly like a poor relation in Europe , this was more evident when we left today to drive down to the Algarve, setting the navigator to "avoid tolls" the roads they have replaced are more like cart tracks, shaking my poor little RV like a goodun.
In comparison the roads in Spain are fabulous, why the difference I dont know.
We are now pitched at the Chicken Run just a few miles from Portimao .
It is a very rural , rustic work in progress site owned by Andrew and Lesley , a British couple who are looking after us well.
Sat out for a while this evening, 17degs, no traffic noise , just the sound of crickets and owls and watching Egrets grazing the grass.
Other Brits on site are very friendly .
We will walk the mile or so into the village in the morning for fresh bread and some cash for vino tinto etc.
Watch this space
