Hi All,

Thursdays the big day, off to France for the first time in the RV:blink:
We,ve been loads of times in our other motorhomes and loved it, :001_smile:
Crossing over to Calais (£175 return with Norfolk Line, toad and dog included, the dog was £30!!!!!) stopping at Bien Assise Guines then on to Rouen and down to Montbazon for an overnight on our way to Ille de Re. :biggrin:
What a beautifull island it is, we just hope we fit on !!!!:wink::wink:
Friends of ours are travelling with us, their first time in France and their first
time abroad in their motorhome.
We,ll keep you updated on sites good and bad, hopefully ACSI throughout, :biggrin: and will be intouch for help and advice as we go, cause no doubt we'll need it:blushing: :crying: its nice to know your all their to help:thumbup::thumbup:

Snap - we are off too

Its our big day on Tuesday off to 24hour Le Mans 1st time in the RV to France, 1st time Eurotunnel, 1st time trying to find fuel after arriving in France, 1st time around/through/avoid Rouen.
Hopefully if all goes well we will end up near the Porsche curves & we will have the RVOC flag flying.

Safe travels and enjoy your times in Europe, we have when we have been over there.
We had no problems using aires across France 35' plus toad. Got some funny looks at times but its all the joys of travelling.

We love going to France Ille de Re is beautiful but we thought very expensive for what it is.

Le Mans

Well we arrived back and only found one gate post that jumped out at the side of the coach. Not too much damage but more to the pride.

900 miles in total and returned a respectable 11.899 to the gallon, managed to fill up near Rouen at 1.29euros per litre which was rather good.

We went on the Euro Tunnel and with the left hand tyre just touching the kerb we had 1 to 1.5 inches on the right hand mirror - which is fixed and does not move unless hit by a lorry.

We were on a site that was adjacent to the Porsche curves a good location for the event - it would hve been even better if was open when we arrived. Trying to find an instant overnight spot for 37ft & 11.5 tons was a challenge. At this point read errant gate post.

It was a very good trip and I could recomend it as a place to visit, there are a great deal of British attendees but other nationalities are available.
Indeed some Swiss chaps arrived complete with dumper truck, they had removed the dumper bucket and replaced this with a 3 piece suite a patio table in the middle and completed the effect with a patio umbrella. Another had a sack truck with 2 chairs attached and a petrol engine to power it.
There did not seem to be much interest in the Construction & use regulations with any form of transport.

All very entertaining and certainly worth the journey.

Oh yes and the race was won by Audi in a very quick Hybrid car.
