We are looking at taking a trip in our Winnegabo Brave as a little warm up before venturing into Europe.

The Mrs has suggested a trip through Wales , onto the West Wales coast , up to Holyhead and then ferry to Ireland.

I'm sure many of you have done this trip , is it easy enough ?

Comments and advice please.

No problem We did Ireland in our Winnie a while ago and had a great time ....apart from the fact that it rained at some point ...EVERY day for the two weeks we were there !!!!

We went over last year in our Four Winds, first Wales then Fishguard to Rosslare , covered a fair bit of the Republic then back on the Dun Laoghaire to Holyhead.
Great trip but pity most lay bys have height barriers, the folk are so friendly and the black stuff, yum (y)

Any preferred routes ? Any festivals you enjoyed , Particular sight seeing expeditions ?

If you go to Eire, you must drive the Ring Of Kerry (But not in the RV unless a tiddler).

Fleming's White Bridge Caravan Park is an immaculate spacious park in beautiful scenery hidden away on the outskirts of Killarney. Wonderful family who have suffered badly at the hands of the Irish recession, but you wouldn't know that unless you actually talk to them. Nothing is too much trouble.

If you need good weather, we're going at Easter and in July, so follow us.

The roads are being massively improved with EU cash, but there are still potholed stretches. It's like everything, you take the rough with the smooth. If you're going fast, you're missing the point. Some main roads are narrow, but the other drivers are very courteous and will give you space unless you charge at them like a bull.

When you pull into a garage to fill your petrol tank, they think all their Christmases have come at once.

There are plenty of RV friendly campsites around, but loads of deserted industrial estates where you can wildcamp to your heart's content.




And NO, I don't work for the Irish Tourist Board !!

I'm in County Down, near Bangor and Donaghadee, loads of old pubs and on the coast, about 30 mins. from Belfast. We've loads of room and a big entrance, you're welcome to park up if you get up to N.Ireland. Cheers.

I did a tour of The republic in September last , If you want to PM me with your address I have a Caravan, camping & motorhome guide 2014 , an all Ireland road map as well , will send it to you. The ring of Kerry is well worth doing, If you want to drive it with the mhome make sure you go the same direction as the tour coaches. The Boyne Valley has a lot of ancient interests and the Newgrange centre is very good value for money (parking for Motorhomes free) Dont try to get to Father Teds house , as the roads would be too small for a RV . They have a good system on the larger roads , (EU CASH) wide hard verges , that you pull over onto when something comes from behind and wants to overtake, the roads are a lot quieter than mainland UK . We went Holyhead Dublin , and Rosslaire - Fishguard . Coming out of Dublin there is a toll road , but you can pay in lots of places in paypoints (in shops) .
Cant help with site suggestions as was in a Landrover Camper , so wasnt looking for large vehicle access. HTSH
