Ferry"s booked for this year"s French adventure, Rosslare to Cherbourg out, Cherbourg to Dublin back. With 10% discount it was only £1500......:swear: The one good thing is that they offer a free Ireland/UK crossing for the same vehicle and passengers ( worth about £400), so, I"ll try and make a meet next year (y).
Never complain about the price of your England/France ferry guys ....

Remind me never to go to Ireland;)

Been over there a number of times - always book through either the CC or the C&CC - nowhere near the competition on those routes that there is on the Dover / France routes but always a good deal - last time I was tugging a 20ft Van so would have been about 37ft and cost under £500

Indeed, not enough competition so they have a captive market, Stena are the worst. They buy up small, reasonable operators and then the prices go up, seen them do it twice in the last few years. There are offers from time to time that can keep costs down. If ever anyone's over, I've plenty of room for 4 or 5 Rvs on hardstanding, you'd be welcome.
Now I'm just looking forward to 4 weeks in La France and the ferry is the first step. We'll go down as far as Royan, staying at a site on the way down and another on the way back up to Cherbourg. We fancy visiting the ww2 beaches and museums, anybody recommend a good site near them?

maybe 30 years camping with bikes etc but last 5 in RV, old bones and all that. Still do the ocassio
We'll be over to Ireland albeit on bikes from 22nd May till 29th for a short rally in Wexford and tour to Athlone and Dublin.
Was up in N.Ireland last year as mate used to work in Belfast and lives up near Giants Causeway and gave us a grand tour.

Used to come over regularly on the Swansea Cork overnighter now thats an experience, especialy when it was Polish operated.

Do want to bring RV over and Smudger was saying about trying Irish ferries, (are they still operating), giving loads of notice, sometimes gives you a good deal ?.
From London it isnt much of a differnce for us going from Hollyhead, Fishguard, Liverpool or even Stranraer as its a shorter journey the other end., so mileage much the same overhaul.
Must make the effort.

Yes mate, Irish Ferries still very much in the game, that"s who we"re going to France with. If you"re coming North, then you have P and O Cairnryan to Larne or Stena Cairnryan to Belfast, or there"s Birkenhead to Belfast, either day or overnight sailing, not the cheapest but the closest. Then you"ve Stena Hollyhead to Dublin or Irish Ferries on the same route. Dublin up to Belfast is about 2 hours on motorway / dual carriageway all the way. Lpg is not too hard to find, the natives are very peaceful these days ;) and I"ve loadsa" parking about 40 mins from Belfast.
