Looking for overnight stops for our trip to Portugal. After some recommendations please. We are 31" Van then the trailer at 15", would prefer not to have to unhook if possible.

We only plod along so won't be covering to many miles each day. Landing early afternoon at Cherbourg so

1st night I'm hoping to be somewhere around Le Mans or Rennes if we go that way 'Recommendations please'

Hope to get to Twin Lakes for the 2nd night and maybe a couple more. Been told no problem with room there.

3rd night Capbretton. Again no problem with space there from what I've heard.

4tn night Valladolid so after 'recommendations here please as well'

Have had a good search through the threads and the RV friendly map, which has brought up a couple of stops for us (y)

Many thanks
Shawn

I have stayed here when i had my 5ver a couple of years ago, you dont have to have camping cheques to stay there but if you have them the pitch is the stated price on this page, whether it is any dearer if you dont have camping cheques i cannot say

If you check the web pages of camping cheque and acsi you will find sites open all year, the sites on their pages usually give you pitch size, ehu allowance, facillities and directions

I've been planning my route to Portugal where do you plan to exit Spain I can't make my mind up, it's so long since I drove in Portugal I can't remember if the roads are good or bad , I'm erring on the stay in Spain as long as possible side

Hello Nickpullum,

Sorry for slow reply, sat dish on the roof was a wobbling in the wind last night so kept losing signal. Good test for it though as its still up there this morning and I've got a signal (y)

I'm sure others have more experience on the roads but on my couple of trips I've found them far better than the UK. Lots of good roads through Spain/Portugal, difficult to judge as you look on the map and it shows a small road but you get on it and its like a UK duel carriageway.

Last time we entered into Portugal via Guarda/A25 but left through central Portugal, PortagemN246-1 and up through to Caceres and on the A66. Wasn't a toll road then but i believe it is now.

We plan to leave Uk on the 25 October and take around a week to trundle on down.

Cheers from a still windy Dorset

Shawn.

We leave strait after Xmas so we could catch some bad weather in Northern Spain, but it will probably be miserable here by then, if you left in October you must be there or did you mean NovemberNovember

Just shows how I've lost the plot and don't know what month it is lol.

Yes leaving next week all being well.

We hope to be somewhere on the algarve by new year might see you there

We may not be on the Algarve but ours paths might cross at some point. Hope we get a wave

Still looking for a place near Le Mans. Perhaps I should man up and drive straight to Twin Lakes.

Shawn.
