maybe 30 years camping with bikes etc but last 5 in RV, old bones and all that. Still do the ocassio
We have relatives on Guernsey and as far as I am aware, none of the Channel Islands used to accect any motorhomes due to size of roads and only camping/caravans were allowed.
Recently Guernsey are allowing "small" motorhomes but I beleive you have to have a prebooked site before being allowed over.
This was several years ago and could well have changed.
Maybe a look on the Jersey Tourist Board site may reveal different, I hope it does.

Still learning........everyday
Know of a owner that took a 40' RV to Jersey a couple of years ago, booking was on condition that he drove from the port to the campsite for their holiday and back to port at the end.

The owner of the site met them at the port to ensure all was ok, so all doable but just takes a lot of planning. Even for a euro PVC they are not allowed to drive around the island or sleep in their Motorhomes on friends/relatives drives. Campsite only for the holiday

Good luck

Many moons ago, we took our dual axle caravan to Jersey. As we were attending a Scout camp there was no one to escort us and so we had a police escort. Proper posh it was. They were very nice, stopping all sorts of traffic as we passed through and went around tight corners, to and from the site. The locals stood and looked, I don't think they had ever seen a double axle before. We had to get permission to use it, on what technically was not a proper caravan campsite and also the permission from the traffic police to break the rules and drive on the road. That together with the fact that I took two of my rifles, because I was also visiting the Jersey Rifle Club, brought chaos to Jersey in general. The ferry was held up for two hours when Chinese whispers turned firearms into fire alarm. As we stood waiting for the rifles to be brought to us from the captain upon arrival, we were chatting away to the escort police about life and the price of fish. As soon as the rifles appeared, their stance changed. You almost saw the hat change from friendly to official, when they said " Please can we see the licenses for these please sir". Thought they had caught me out, but no, SuperCleverSuperMike had applied for a Jersey Firearms License.

I heard of another uniformed group that brought firearms to the islands sometime back ......It caused chaos and took the islanders a few years to get over it.

Just to add another line. When we came back and arrived at Portsmouth, they would not give them back to me until we had left the Port Authority premises. I pointed out to them that I had a caravan on the back and if I went through the gate so that they could give them to me then I would have to go back onto the premises to drive the caravan out. I also pointed out to the man, that the moment he stepped out onto public property, he was illegal as he did not have a license. This all threw him and the chain of command into a quandary. After much discussion, they agreed to give them to me inside the terminal, but I was then escorted out. :mask: Management decreed, that I will not take my pop pop's abroad ever, ever, again.

Eire is great for RVing.

We looked at Channel Islands but it is a no go for any large vehicles. Would be really interested in hearing people's experiences in Ireland though as was warned to stay away as the roads too small! Be great if the info we were given was wrong

Some of the Western and North Western Roads can be a bit tight but well worth the effort going over there - also there are a number of RVOC members live over there

We had 2 weeks travelling around the Emerald Isle. great places to visit. The only issue we encountered was the condition of the roads !!!! the potholes were cavernous ... and we had a blow out on the last day ... poor tyre had been punished into submission.
