Going overseas with an RV

Were travelling to spain on 13th july out of dover for 3 weeks . Quite happy to take anyone that way . Its alot easier than you think

Axle weight wouldnt be a problem on paxsos latest aquistion look how far back them axles are . Length and turning circle now thats another matter

Why not make your first trip Parc Verger ?

A decent road down ,not too far for a maiden voyage and full facilities for rvs.(y)

Just a thought.

Regards

John P:)

I like this idea. Not least because the very helpful nice owners of Parc Verger will have a vested interest in us actually arriving and staying there so will answer the phone if we run into serious trouble as I'm sure they will know the answers to any question which would need to be solved! And it's not too far I seem to recall last time I googled Parc Verger.

One piece of advice...take it or leave it ,but make sure 100% that your insurance and breakdown cover are absoluteley spot on.

We made sure that we were fully covered for our trip to Manilva in Spain last year and even though the coach never missed a beat knowing that if we had a break down it would be sorted was worth every penny.

If you want to do it on the cheap then you takes your chance:(

Biggest piece of advice I can give you is....DO IT !!!!!(y)

Regards.

ps....You meet some lovely people on your travels as well !!;)

Heading for la manga

Am googling where that is as I type (well, almost) ...

Cartagena? Wow that looks cool. Google says if I leave now and don't stop I'll get there by this time tomorrow. :giggle:

Three weeks. I need a co-pilot or co-driver, that's my other problem. The dog just ain't up to it, even if I drive all the way he's a rubbish navigator.

Can't really see why I would be over my axle weight as we live light most of the lockers are empty really don't have that much inside the rv ???? Turning yes that might be a problem in some places but as its the same size asmost of your rvs 34ft

We are aiming to travel to Spain via France late November 2015 to get some sun.
Any issues that I should be aware of?
Best ferry to use?

Depends where you want to drive from.. We always go from Dover to Calais & use DFDS.. Get a flexi ticket £20 extra but gives you 72 hours either side of your sailing..(y)

Thanks very much, just the ticket

Good thing is, if the French are on strike, the Port of Dover have to take you in & stack you.. If you don't have a flexi ticket, they will tell you there is a delay due to strike in France so come back in four hours or so.. Not easy to do in a 40 foot RV.. Been there & got the T shirt..

YOU CANT NOT GO COZ THE FRENCH MIGHT STRIKE

If you tell them you have livestock on board they have to prioritise you.

Of course you have to have livestock on board, you can't cheat, they will ask to see said livestock.

DONT THINK CARRYING ALOAD OF COWS WITH YOU JUST SO YOU CAN PARK IN DOVER IF THE FRENCH GO ON STRIKE IS THE ANSWER .

Ian/boxerdog we go to france two or three times a year we had a old hymer 1996 model we have broken down once found a small garage repair done for very little cost. just gave the lads a good tip. we have changed to a winny Itasca. will be going back later this year. We always used the tunnel but will have to use the ferry due to having lpg conversion.
will let you know how it goes
