Well what an interesting time we have had here in Lourdes. After trekking all the way down the mountain from our site to the town, we get in to the grounds of the sanctuary, only to be pounced upon by grandad security & thrown out..

I don't wish to offend anyone on here who may be of the RC faith, but .. Really .. Just because we have dogs... I mean come on.. Also no smoking or using of mobile phones or even eating ice creams.. Guess I know where I'm going for the afterlife...

Instead we went and wandered around the town centre, to which ever shop is a souvenir shop.. In fact one Irish chap we were talking to said it's like Las Vegas with Religion, mind you it was 11 o'clock & he was drinking wine..

So for you agnostics, atheists & heathens out there, this is what it's all about..
The basilica of our Lady of Lourdes..

All Nettie wanted was to go in & have look around...

Guess you could say she starting to get angry... Oh dear... Time to get her away from there before she creates a scene ..

Well after our experience of Lourdes we decided to leave there & potter up the road for a couple of hours.. We headed for the the south west & found a lovely little municipal site on the banks of the river Dordoigne in a smashing little town called Bourge. Can't go wrong with a site like this, all amenities for a few quid a night..

After a lovely day & night there we have again moved on up into the interior to a town called Loches. We are on a site called camping de Citidal where we have stayed before, but it is a great little town with a good vets & a splendid market on Saturdays.

We have booked in the vets this-afternoon for there passports to be stamped ready for the return crossing in few days, & have the market tomorrow to do all of our shopping for pressies for us...( bugger the kids)..

Will wander out & takes some pics later to post...

For anyone in an RV this is a great site to stay as they can accommodate any size rig, we actually stayed here in our Monaco, so some of the pitches are huge..

Yes just turn up as it's now low season & always have loads of spaces..

We have an ACSI card which most sites give you a discount so it works out a lot cheaper.. One place we went too was 28 euros for the van 2 people 2 dogs & EHU.. Gave us a discount of 14 euros as we had the card... Can't go wrong really..

Interesting journey - disappointing about Lourdes though - did they have signs up about no dogs ??

From the site we were on we came down the mountain & into the park area which then runs into the 'sacred ground'. We were well into the grounds when we were pounced upon & ejected.. Every other entrance has a board telling you no dogs ,ice cream mobiles bikes & so on, with security guards on the gates..:crying:

Have moved on from Loches & have landed up in Fort Mahon . Will stay here for the night & see if we can get some grub, then off in the morning for a coast road bimble to Calais to get a ferry sometime in the next day or so..

Need to get home now as we are missing work..

We left France yesterday from Calais & arrived home late afternoon after a good run. It was over all a very good road trip, but now is time to settle back into normal life for a while with lots to sort out, even a new business venture.

I hope some of you have enjoyed reading the little posts I have put up on here & will put lots more pictures on the gallery when I get time to upload them from the cameras & phones.. Cheers...

Been great reading your travels Stu - glad your back safe and sound. When a member posts about their travels it allows others to enjoy the travels and plan for their own. Nice sometimes to be able to Google the place or look at it on Google earth.

Thanks - look forward to catching up soon
