Well having spent the past few months in the UK preparing to move house, it now looks like our house sale over here has fallen through and so we have decided that it's time to head off to Spain for the winter.
So now the planning begins, well basic planning anyway as we like to be quite flexible once we are on the road.
We are thinking of sailing directly to either Santander or Bilbao rather than drive through France, as our objective is to spend as much time as we can cycling in warmer climes, so we want to get to Southern Spain sooner rather than later. As it will be our first time in the RV in Spain, any suggestions as to what route we might take as well as aires/sites en route between the north and south would really be appreciated.
We intend to predominantly use aires on the route south, but would be happy to do a long stay on a site in the south if we find one we are really happy with. We won't have a car so ideally it would help to be close to shops or at least public transport to get to the shops. Somewhere near Alicante or Malaga would be good as we will have to fly up to France sometime in January to sign the papers for the house we are buying there - do people think it would be Ok to leave the RV unattended on a site there for a few days?
I've seen the recent post with advice about sites in Spain, so I'll pick up what I can from there, but if anyone has any suggestions or advice about crossings, routes or other sites that you think might be of interest then I'd love to hear from you!!
Thanks in anticipation!
Irene
