Wildcamping in Scotland

Hi is it poss, to wildcamp in Scotland? Anyone know any sites? I know the right to roam exists but what about wildcamping?

You should be fine, Unless the chief Haggis ( Eckie ) gets the independence vote. Then you will find the gap in the wall will be too narrow for a motorhome to get through. Cheers Texaswoody.

We have often thought about Scotland but the stories of their infamous midges put us off, when is the best/ worst time to visit?

We always use sites but did visit Scotland the year before last in June and had no problem with midges. :thumbup:

July 22nd is usually a nice warm day, But, no one knows for sure why. No Midgies on the East coast or the Northern Isles, Orkney etc. BUT!! the west coast inland can be really, really dreadful in the summer months. Stick to the coast where it is usually windy, or the very far north, which can be nearly tropical, with palm trees and lovely beaches. Cheers Texaswoody.

RVing in scotland

Having lived in Scottie Land for 3 years on the East Coast (50 miles down from John O'Groats), if you are travelling up as far as Inverness, the Caravan Club there did take us but not sure now as they have new wardens. Bught Park in Inverness will take you, along the shores of the River Ness, but I didn't rate the site much although it is close to everything happening in Inverness. Up on A9 passed Inverness there is nowhere that will take over 30 foot. Even at the top at Durness going round by John on Groats they have a 28 foot max. You are allowed to wild camp anywhere, of course leaving all things as if you had never been. On the road east to west going towards Fort William you pass through Glen Coe its lovely and loads of places to pull off, but bear in mind dont go too far down side roads as you wont be able to turn round. I could write reams of this so going to stop now before I bore you all to death.
