Off to Scotland

Off to Scotland in the Morning, with Debs car now a Toad. Thinking of going up the A1/M for a change, got to get up to Elgin to see the Grandchildren. Don't mind if it takes a couple of days, what do you all think of it as a route. Yes I know it;s quicker up the M6. But Debra fancies going through Northumberland. :001_smile:

Never been to Scotland so can't comment on the route, but have a good trip.

off to Scotland

last year we went we stopped at York and then a great site in Berwick on Tweed (visit Lindisfarne Island) Nice trip have a good one.

We are on the east and always go up the A1 we think it is a lot better we think you can see more on the way up

Of the 2 I think the views are better and more impressive on the M6, until you get to scotland and then the scenery is better as you are then on the coast road.

A couple of days means you can detour and call into Lincoln for a day or two
See you soon

Hi Paul.
I think it's a good idea to have a change so give the A1 a go. It's a good run up to Elgin though, but as you say you can take your time and enjoy the views.
There is a few speed cameras on the A1 between Newcastle and Edinburgh, so watch out.

Enjoy Chris.

Scotland

OH and watch that a1 debris damaged two of our tyres. But thanks to Brian we got replacements fast.

Being married to a wee Scotsman we spend a lot of time there and toured round for 2 weeks last summer going to the Highland games and enjoying many large glasses of their native drink .... Whiskey not Irnbru of course hic. Have a great time

Some beautiful views on the A1 through Northumberland into Scotland. Well worth getting on to the coast road through Beadnell, Seahouses and past Bamburgh Castle. There are also some cracking lay-bys north of Berwick for a spot of lunch overlooking the ocean.

We where up Scotland a few weeks back & went A1 route.Stayed at Tantallon site at North Berwick on the way up, brilliant site with brilliant views but not the cheapest but they say you get what you pay for !!!

Hi Paul and Debra

We just love Scotland but enjoy the A68 road through Coldstream better:biggrin:. Go up the A1 then turn off just after Morpeth and enjoy the forests and countryside at its best but if it's sea views your after then continue up the A1. The choice is yours. Enjoy Scotland which ever way you go.

Brian and Chris

Well made it to Elgin today. We stopped last night, just North of Tyneside in a pub called the Waggoner. It was on the motorhome stopover site, it said if you eat. You can stay overnight free. We turned up, but it was all closed down. So we made our own dinner and stopped on their car park anyway. Have just had fantastic cuddles with grandsons, so we are happy Nanny and Grandad.:001_smile:

We took your advice Brian and turned up the A68 through Northumbria National park. Fantastic views, stopped in the Lay bye on the border for food.

Well done Paul, sounds like you had a good trip.
Enjoy the family!

Cheers Chris :001_smile:
