Morocco Trip

Hi All

Toying with the idea of taking the RV to Morocco. Possibly going next April/ May.

Though was that you only live once and it may be an interesting experience. Suppose it's a bit of a new frontier beyond European motorhoming; albeit I understand that is popular with wintering French motorhomers.

Wondered if any of you have been and what experiences you have had?

I have read up on a few of the escorted trips, but they seem to be around £1500 and if so that would break the budget. Fairly relaxed about travelling to new places and did eastern Europe when it was just out of communism and deep dark south west china, so not easily scared off. Unless you are going to tell me some real horror stories!

Also what the ferry costs were.

With your past travelling -----you will just LOVE it------AFAIK you can't get breakdown cover there ???????? But we met a German motor homer (there are thousands of them) who destroyed his engine (in deep water) and got recovered back home.-----------maybe?? we could get ADAC? cover in England. Best to travel with another, if you can ? If you have time to talk to other travellers and hunt out interesting places it is a rewarding Country to visit IMHO.
VWalan is the guy to talk to (he runs a home built 5er on a Jap truck-----great outfit)----------you will find him on 365 or MHF-------as we speak, he is on his way down, so is probably not on wi-fi.

I have done Maroc in a RV, we went with Desert Detours and found it good value, but if that is out of your reach then you will find that fuel is very cheap so is camping fees, food was a problem as we couldn't find good fresh veg, Supermarkets are few and far between.

We had a Vacarios book which was good and a road map by Michelin, there aren't many roads to get lost on.

Our farourite area was the East side around the Atlas and Essouwaira (spelling) on the west coast
