Thanks for the suggestions,my jacks are fully hydraulic without a switch with a 11/2 inch wide ram and 16 inch travel equalizer the company have told me it is defiantly the jack and not a solenoid or valve failure even though I have had a specialist change a valve and it made no difference at all,a local hydraulic company has said it can be repaired without ordering a new jack from the states which is likely to cast around £1000

I personally would give the likes of Duncan(StarSpangledSpanner) Adi (Abm) James at Empire etc a ring, these lads really know their stuff when it comes to Rv stuff.......just a thought(y)

if this company think they have diagnosed the fault and can fix the ram i should go with them.]
When i had a valve fail it was easy to diagnose - i swapped 2 valves about on the pump and the fault changed to the new position.
rams can be rebuilt and you may even be able to get a set of just the seals shipped over from the U.S. manufacturer

If I'd been quoted a grand for the repair I'd be doing a bit of shopping around,If that's the best price then fair enough but it seems a little steep to me.(y)
I read it as ordering a new one was £1000 not the repair.
A set of seals cost me just over 100 dollars for mine. I did it myself. But that was an lci unit.

correct .equalizer in the usa said the jack was at fault and needed replacing which would cost me in excess of £1000 after purchase ,shipping import duties and vat ,I am going to remove the jack and a local hydraulic company have told me it will only be the seals and they would quote to do the job.hopefully at a fraction of the cost,i do know it is not a faulty valve or solenoid on the pump as an rv specialist has replaced these already expecting it was fixed

Hi All,just an update on the faulty hydraulic levelling jack.I took it off the rv sent it to a local hydraulic company who in turn resealed the jack, tested it and sent it back.I have refitted the jack ,bled the system and jacked it up level and left it for several days and hey presto it is perfect for a mere £154 +vat,my only regret was taking to the rv specialist who didn't get it right and charged me an awful lot more than that.

When one of my front HWH rams went, as they are a pain to get bits for and most uk hydraulic places I contacted it was a specialist thing and expensive I just brought 2 standard uk hydrolic rams with better lift capacity and then made 2 new brackets to hold them and it now works perfect again and cost £300 for the 2 rams and a bit of steel and then a days fabricating and welding which I did myself.
Ow I have rams which can be re-sealed in any hydraulic place and the rams can be brought off the shelf again anywhere in the uk or Europe.
I will.do the same when one of the rear ones goes.
