Hi all - I am in Durness up by Cape Wrath at present and thinking of going to down possibly to Applecross.

What does everyone think about an RV on these roads. I am 32 ft long with the wretched mobility rack on the back.

We were in that part of Scotland last summer - Kinlochewe. Roads can be narrow so be ready for the 44ft German and Swiss coaches!!

Like a lot of narrow roads in that area other drivers are aware that the roads are narrow and are used by coaches and trucks. Just take your time and remember where the passing places are as you drive past them. The landscape is such that you can often see the road ahead for several miles.

Just had a look on google maps and sent the little man along the road, looks doable to me with reasonable care. Even found some fantastic Lay bye's you could stay in. Good Luck if you want to give it a go.

Just remembered we had a meal at the Applecross Inn - excellent food.

There was also a small coach - about 36ft parked outside having brought tourists to the Inn for lunch.

We were in our tow car not the Camelot.

Mind you, I forgot to say we did the Trolls Highway in Norway last year, so anything is better than that.

Applecross

Yes at nearly 35 feet we did it last Sept. Narrower than an arrow but do-able. Lots of passing places. Keep an eye out for cars coming up behind and let them pass too. They often honk you but its only to let you know they are there. Lovely part of the world.

Well - flushed with my success on reaching Applecross I wanted to go onto Kishorn and decided to take the short cut over Bealach na Ba.

Had a nice lunch at the Seafood bar and am parkid up just down the road from Lochcarron. Even got a fillup of Autogas. Off to Skye tomorrow
