We were told last week that no one was allowed to import any more American RV's into europe. Does anyone know how true this is and where I can find any more information if it is. Thanks

The rules have certainly changed, and it is more difficult to import vehicles less than 10yrs old due to IVA tests but still possible. So I can only assume some one has got the wrong end of the stick.
You can still order a new vehicle from Signature, according to their website

Some one feeding you duff info I reckon, both American and Canadian RV companies are producing some RVs on Mercedes chassis and many other models are being produced to meet EU regs following some mods over here.

Hi there,
We have just imported our RV from the USA,
We have done it through a friend of ours RV company, it is very hard to do it yourself now.
We have waited until it was 10 years old so we didn't have to do the new IVA test.
Let us know if you need any more help.

We have just shipped ours as I have already said. It came over on the 9th September.

I think the OP was saying into Europe rather than the UK, cost is the only thing preventing import of correct sized RVs into the UK, or I may bought a new one last change. (y)

Hi the info i have been given is new RVs are subject to stringent new testing once it as passed you can put it back to original which is what a lot do not sure if it is leggit but it goes on older Rvs can still be brought in in on the old system
Hope the contribution to discussion helps

Hi,

I'm new to RVOC and have for along time thought what does it take to get an RV into the UK money wise not buying the Item but the actual shipping cost and how do they ship them 'container ship'?

I have spotted some what look like bargains RV's for sale on the net but it's just the final piece of the jig saw to get them back here to the UK.

Thanks for the interesting chat on this!

Costs vary according to purchase price import duties, VaT etc but physical shipping I would say circa £3000-£4000
no containers just driven on board and if your lucky driven off again
You do hear stories of the crew having a good poke around little bits going missing, the bed being used and footprints all over the place
but I suspect most of that is hearsay

I was'nt a mile out at your $1.65 per cubic foot for a theoretical 35 ft rv,
circa £ 3470.66 at today exchange rate
but there are a lot of incidentals to add in as well i'd certainly never thought about

I think it is still very difficult if not almost impossible to Register a RV is some EU countries, is this where the confusion arises regarding an import ban perhaps
