A bit of a jaunt

Well we left Stratford race course today having met with friends having had a great couple of days together - socially distant - in a group of no more than six- using hand sanitizer as appropriate- & masks where necessary- phew got that bit out of the way.
Anyway we have now arrived at Cleethorpes Showground Caravan Park DN35 0AR. £16 a night with EHU. Toilet block is open if needed & the warden was both helpful & informative- they get a few RV’s apparently.
Easy access through the main entrance, although we had to go the wrong way to access pitch no2 which was just at the entrance Probably have to do a bit of shutting on the way out as we are close to the entrance.
A cycle way is about 100m away which is the marsh area of the Humber estuary. The cycle way will take you to metropolis of Cleethorpes one way & to a sandy beach in the opposite direction - which is dog friendly all year. There is “The Signal box Inn” about 40m from the entrance & a Brewers Fayre outlet a further 30m. image.jpg

Well not sure what happens to the weather but it’s rain followed by rain

We are now at Browns Caravan Park Clayton Bay Scarborough - YO11 3NN. Our route took us across the Humber Bridge - toll- where we paid £4.50 as opposed to £12.50 because we are clearly under 7.5tons.
Browns is primarily a mobile home site but with 40 tourer pitches, most of which seemed to be seasonal ones. We just squeezed on the pitch because of our length (21), which is in a corner. There is another 41 I think which is a bit deeper. The site owners were very helpful & not bothered at all about the length. The site is very tidy & well kept toilets/ showers & laundry all open but we didn’t use them, 10amp EHU
Across the road from the site is a Park Dean resort which has a Nisa mini market. There is a Morrison’s nearby about 5 mins in a car.
Beach is a 5 - 10 min walk from the site, the sea was a bit fierce today.

After an exciting drive over the North Yorkshire Moors - a high sided vehicle & storm conditions- we continued our journey Northwards. We did pass a big rusty old statue - could do with a wire brush & a coat of paint.
Arrived at Budel Farm Campsite (NE69 7AL), receiving full instructions from ‘Billy’ - “Park where you like& stick £20 in this envelope”
No EHU on the field where we are but there are 5 in a different area near the farmers house.
There is a water point & a dump but not seen them yet still got a howling gale & horizontal rain.

You might miss the sign - it’s the one on the grass I used map coordinations to the entrance.

Onward & upward we are now at Moreton Hall caravan site - it’s dead posh, well it ought to be at £120 for 3 nights. £2.75 for the dog per night & an additional £8.65 for RV’s per night on top of the £28.60 nightly fee. However it’s well located for Edinburgh, super clean, good access so all in all it’s a great site. Bus stop just outside for the City & a standard fee of £1.80 for a single journey no length limit.
We hope to go to the Kelpies plus the Falkirk wheel tomorrow & found a car rental @ £25 for 24 hours -Easirent.com- , so hopefully that will work out well too.

Why the extra charge because it’s a RV, please don’t say because of EHU because you can only draw 16amp of the post whatever you are in. (y)
Who knows? It’s a case of “Its my game & if you want to play you must play by my rules”
We have & will pay £10-£18 a night for all the other places we have & will stay, so if I average it out over the trip it’s much less painful.
Of course I could put both heat pumps on & the water heater too which should bring us up to the 16 & then go out for the day.:giggle:
