After what seems like an eternity, I've finally paid my money for a classic Flxible motor home:crying:

The only time I'll actually see if the vehicle exists is when the tow truck goes to pick it up next Thursday or Friday!

I've transfered the money now so it's a bit too late to get cold feet. I'll keep this thread going as I get more info or a blog diary might be better.

However, it could be the shortest blog in history:

"Paid money, tow truck driver says no bus at the address given - the end.................................

You don't have to be mad to own an RV, but it certainly helps.
    Best of luck.

I have a brief history of the Flx:

Purchased new in 1947 by the Utah Parks Company (a subsidiary of Union Pacific Railroad) to take tourists around the national parks.

    http://contentdm.li.suu.edu/cdm/sea...order/title!subjec!descri/ad/asc/cosuppress/1

One of the pictures in the link will be my bus but I just haven't found it yet!!!

The Flx has been owned by the same family for the last 40 years and kept at 29 Palms in California. This area of the USA has very low humidity and I'm hoping will have been kind to the bus:001_smile: Fron the photographs I have there appears very little, if any rust at all.

The bus was owned by the grandfather for all but one of those years and the title transferred to his son last year when the grandfather died. The bus is now being sold as I think the house occupied by the grandfather is going up for sale.

The bus hasn't run for at least 25 years but the grandfather refused to sell it. It's probably one of the most complete buses yet to be restored that I have seen (and I've seen quite a few!!)

I want to restore the bus to its original condition (keeping it as a motor home of course) and keep the original paint scheme. The bus is missing the aluminium side panels but they are quite easy to find.

I've attached images of the bus and also a model bus showing the original coach work (the buses were either orange/ green or light/ dark blue and white) as mine is. I will not have the Utah Parks Company print on the side though.

Yes, that was a 1947 clipper as well I think. They changed the models over the years and the best way to tell is from the windows. The later Visicoach had fewer but longer windows down the side.

Good luck with it all. I hope everything turns out great for you Bingo. It has always been a dream of mine to restore a vehicle, I am quite practicle but not very mechanical, so I think may always be a dream. But I can live it through people like you, keep us informed and I hope to see it one day, at a meet.:thumbup::thumbup:
