We forgot to post, we stopped at the Farm Shop services on the way back from Scotland on the M6 . We stayed on their campsite overnight and they charged £22.50 per night inc Hook up. They then apologised and said they would have to charge us an additional £2.50 because we were an American RV and should also be charging us an extra £2.50 for the trailer (toad) When Debra questioned the extra for an RV, the Lady said "everyone is charging them extra now". We did not use their Toilets or showers, we use our own. Our Heating is Gas, our cooker is gas and our TV is 12 Volt. The only thing we use on hook up is the fridge and the battery charger.

Lots of sites have a code for the loos and shower blocks. Should be cheaper if you don't take the option.

I was told here in Pevensey that at many sites you might have to use a "jumbo" pitch, based upon size, maybe that is their excuse I guess they have to provide toilets and showers wether you use them or not, but if space is limited then they can fit a higher density if the vehicle is smaller. (BTW I still think it's BS).

LOL
ive found that .
In Weymouth there is a cc site, all it has is a toilet that i wouldnt let my dog use it if i had one , they offered us a gravel spot, we would have had to buy an extra lead to reach the EHU no water or waste near and wanted to charge us £24 per night , asked why so much and he said well your so big you will take two pitches , umm excuse me you are not offering me a pitch and accross the road in Bagwell i can have a proper pitch with EHU,waste, freshwater, my car plus trailer and lovely heated bathroom also a shop and pub all for £26 per night

I have corrected a number of sites that say we can't fit 10 metres on any pitches. Our wheel base is just over 6 metres. If the pitch has grass behind it I can overhang.(y)

the other one they use is " we have to put you away from the other vans as you intrude on there privacy.
as you can see into there widows as you are so high and you block the sun.
my answer to that one was " at least i dont want to look in theirs windows, unlike most who not only want to look through our widows they want a guided bloody tor, Intrusive my ass. lol

Still learning........everyday
We stayed at Churnet Valley site just outside Leek on the staffordshire moorlands, really nice right next to churnet valley steam line, only really suitable for RVs under 26' and definitely under 11'6" if you do not wish to remove your aircon unit on the bridge 100m from the entrance,

We booked and paid for an RV over the phone, but when we got there, the conversation went something like

Oh your one of those American Motorhomes
Yep
That means that your are totally self sufficient aren't you
Oh yes ( thinks we are going to get a discount)
That will be an extra £10 for the two nights

Stupidly, partly due to shock, partly not to cause a scene I paid up.
But it is something that has annoyed me, and still bothers me when I think about it

Still had the last laugh, because we have not been back...

ask Jim if there is any way of doing this it sounds like a great idea
TBH whilst it would be useful to us, the trip advisor idea of yours in more likely to hurt them.

one in Bournmouth wanted to charge us £34 a night in February as he said our heating cost more than normal caravans and again not even on a proper pitch, in a corner by a barn with a hike to their facilities
well i wont be visiting his site in a hurry

Don't you all know, when you own an American RV you, drink more water, you poo more, wee more, watch more telly, the list is endless, NO the really reason is the ££££'s appearing in the eyes of the gready site owner who must think he's/she's won the lottery when an American RV pulls onto their site, bet they think, " Blinkin heck they must be rich to own one of those"?

Sites like those should be named and boycotted (y)

We get similar arguments about 5'ers - another weird fantasy about some sites - we do not accept twin axle caravans --- WHY -- when challenged I was told they weigh too much errr but the weight is distributed across 4 wheels instead of 2 so the footprint weight should be less. General answers are well thems the rules or that's what the boss said.
