Living full time takes a heavy toll on the carpet, especially in the UK winter..
For some time we have been discussing alternatives, the existing carpet is quite frankly well past it's use by date and and dire need of replacing but I am reluctant to fit another carpet.. My thoughts were 1. Wood planking.. costly and perhaps noisy and it's not 100% water proof. 2. Vynal............... practical but cold and rather utilitarian 3. Cork tyling... this is my preferred option, warm, practical and easy to lay. 4. Industrial type carpet..... warmer and cosier than cork, but quite expensive, not as easy to care for as cork. Any other suggestions ??

Hi Jim
I've heard a lot of good reports about " Rhino Flooring " a vynil flooring , hard wearing and low mantainance , and it comes in differant patterns , like wood or tile etc....check this out Rhinofloor Cushion Vinyl Flooring |

I would go with a rhino style laminate/wood flooring, you can even fit underfloor heating for the winter.
Or use carpet runners with the studs. That's what they use in Euro vans; the mail stud on the floor the female attached to the runner.
