Hi Tony, from what I have been told, most covers do more harm than good, mostly damage by rubbing. It just gets too windy where I live to even consider it.
If stored inside a barn or similar then a cover is good to keep of dust and bird poo, but outside I don't think I would use one.

I support this view, a cover also traps moisture.. however, it's worth considering fitting tyre and wiper blade covers to prevent UV damage.

I've used covers on my boats for many years and never saw any chaffing or any other damage caused by the covers. On my last boat the cover had air vents built into it and we a kept a moisture trap in each cabin as well.
I've not bought one for my RV, the size of it has put me off. Having said that there's a fairly new big twin axle caravan with a fitted cover at the storage yard we use. When I spoke to the owner a couple of weeks ago he said the material was "breathing" and the van was always clean and dry. He had no concerns about damage being caused by the cover and never uses moisture traps either. I'm not sure how easy it would be to pull a cover over the roof with the air cons, aerials and dishes up there. Bit more research needed I think! Regards Doug |
