Default We've done it!!!

Yes, we've put a deposit on an RV and hope to collect it at the beginning of December. It's a 1995 Rockwood Regent, Chevrolet 6.5 turbo diesel, one owner from new and 36ft long! Don't ask what happened to us looking for a 30 ft one. I'm trying not to panic about whether or not it will fit onto any camp sites but I'm hoping that some one out there will reassure me on that point. I've seen an advert for the 'Big Pitch Guide' which I suppose will answer my question?

The RV currently has single beds, which convert into bunks, in the bedroom so we intend stripping them out and putting in a 5ft bed and we will probably replace the carpet. It all depends on what cash is left in the pot. I will probably bore you all rigid with progress reports and I could post some photos, if I new how to - hint hint!!!

Having never owned an RV, all the buttons, switches and gismos etc., are a bit daunting but I am sure once we get it home that we will find out how everything works.

Watch this space.

Toni

Congratulations.. and there are plenty of sites and aires you'll get on and many you won't, but it's not hindered us touring most of France and beyond in our 36 footer, do your homework before setting off, ask others and you'll get plenty of ideas for sites both here and abroad..

Good Luck

Jim

Congratulations - you'll never forget your first RV. Roll on the beginning of December (it'll be worse than waiting for Santa).

I can definitely recommend the Big Pitch Guide - we have a 32' RV and it's come in useful.

Default Motorhome Stopover Guide

Thanks for the kind words. I think that the RV will be the most expensive Christmas present that we have ever bought each other!

Has anyone bought The Motorhome Stopover Guide, it looks as though it could also be useful?

I've been out and about today and I've found the right colour carpet but I need to wait until the RV arrives before I can order it, because I have no idea how much I need. It's all too exciting!!!!

I've added a photo of the RV in 'my album' and I may have added a signature, but I'm not sure because I'm not sure if I did it correctly. I suppose I will see when I post this reply.

congratulations toni, how many sleeps before you collect (or will you be able to sleep at all) you will enjoy learning about what buttons to press etc, we all learn something new from other peoples knowledge and experiences, you are in the right place for getting all the help you may need, but enjoy and I hope the other half likes the suicide seat many happy travels

We're having the drive extended so that there is enough room for the RV and the contractor should start on Monday week, that's if the weather holds and he doesn't get behind with his other work.

The RV will be taxed from 1st December, so we hope to be able to pick it up then. Once it is here we will get stuck into stripping out the bedroom and if it's ready we may try and go away for the New Year. I've no idea where we could go but I'm sure someone will have some ideas.
