Default Good and bad

A question to all the members with Rv's around the 28 to 30 foot mark. A very good friend of ours is considering replacing their Eurobox with another, but has a notion about an RV. I know the obvious benefit is size and what you get for your money, but what about day to day matters like realistic fuel use, servicing them in the south, trade in, etc. Has anyone changed from a Euro to an RV and regretted it?
I know from previous posts of the bad dealers and do not want this to be a knocking post to them for ill feeling from owners, but who are the outstanding dealers that really do appreciate your service.
Your help and input would be greatly appreciated by them.

Default Dealers.

Itchy Feet Tony,I won't hear a bad word said against them,Treated us very well before and after buying our Rv.
That is my totally honest opinion and like you am not going to get into a dealership slanging match
Certainly worth a trip to Cornwall or have a good look on their website.

Regards, John P

we changed from an icecream van to an RV and havent regreted it (yet) and while ours is a lttle longer at 33ft i dont think the extra 3ft makes a vast difference in the general running.

most RV's are high maintanance with things going wrong on a regular basis but all are fixable....more often than not with just hand tools.

real running costs !!!

in the 13 months we've had ours it hasnt cost me anything to keep running except a new power converter/charger unit (£130 from chicago).

quite a bit spent on extra's though

fuel is the biggest cost....6.8ltr triton pulling 7500kg = 10mpg petrol/8mpg LPG....but as folks say 'if you worry about fuel cost, dont buy an RV'

tyres dont come cheap, £200/£300 each, but as they are commercial tyres they will last for many years, very high annual mileages and blow-outs excepted of course.

Default Servicing.

Hi Tony,I have used Karl from KJ rv services,He did all Ichy Feet stuff and when he was travelling back to the Midlands he would call in and service the Rv on our . If for some reason he can't make it this time theres a lad in Frome who I got to know on the Arve forum who apparently does Griffin Rv servicing from Bristol, the last time I spoke to him he had his own Rv but for one reason or another I have nt heard from him in ages.My plan B would be Steve Griffiths in Newport,Its a fair distance but for a good job and piece of mind I would do the journey.
Both Karl and Steve have worked on my Rv(servicing and gas conversion)and I know their work,I'm extremeley fussy who does what on my baby and Steve even bought brand new dust sheets to put down as he knows what I'm like
If you want telephone no's then pm me.

Regards, john P

As John said Eric at Itchy feet Tom at Signature when I was looking last gave me a lot of time honest descriptions and no pressure I didn't buy from them not for any other reason than they hadn't got what I wanted.
Karl super lad good service and know his RV's has looked after mine from new, would say that he is a pal, truth if he wasn't good I wouldn't use him also Duncan star spangled Spanner not mobile though but good and resonable price.

hope this helps a bit

All the best Rick

i possibly misunderstood him but when i ordered a new wingard base last year he said he was doing a job near scarborough a few days earlier and could have hand delivered it...i presumed he meant an RV job.

It depends on your friend--and what he intends to do-----personally----I would not go over 30ft, that with a slide would give large living area----but I do like diesel engines, and these are rare in small RVs
