Default Changing to 12v TV?

Our TV in the front of the RV is not 12v and I have a 12v Avtex all in one TV from the Euro MH.

Is swapping it out an easy job? i.e. putting in a 12v socket at the front etc or am i best getting someone else to do it?

Thanks
Gary

Depends where you are going to fit the TV.. The winnibago is a strange beast as they have a lot of hidden wires and bulkheads with the cupboards so it is not an easy job sometimes to run the wire... I will be happy to show you when you come over on the 28th.

Mounting the tv can be an issue as again the wood is not solid and iuf the tv is heavy then you will have some fun.. I had to stip out the 2" x 4" that was used to wedge the tv put in when the RV was imported and started again with a proper unit from Argos and used marine ply to make a reinforced frame work..again have a look when you come over.

I have run several 240v wires and added sockets myself and a few 12v runs as well. If you have some idea of basic wiring then it is not a problem.. just get a high enough amp wire .. I use a 30 amp cable on some of the 12v I run and even higher for the macicator... But a tv should not be a problem. If you have an invertor on board you should be able to run a mains tv OK... but if you want to go to the smaller size of a 12v then it is not a problem.

Give me a call if you want before you go off to France at the weekend.. if not can go over as I said when I see you on the 28th

All the best

Bob

Hi Gary on mine the 120v inverter fitted by winnie's for the telly is in the cupboard next to the telly, this obviously needs a 12v feed, so if you have the same it should be easy to get a 12v feed.

Thanks Bob

Hopefully it will be fairly straight forward - fingers crossed

The entertainment centre is over the cab and Griffin put a board across the hole where presumably an old style chunky TV used to be and put the current flat screen on that, i am hoping i can mount the Avtex on the same board, as it looks well finsihed as they carpeted it

Cheers
Gary

did the same on the rexhall.
ripped out the 'overcab' 22" crt 230v tv and fitted a varnished ply plate in the hole to 1.5" square batons screwed to the box.
simply mounted the 21.5" widescreen lcd tv to the board and the 12v power comes from the fag lighter socket on the antenna power supply panel in the next cabinet.
